Former Associate Vice President, Research Programs; Fellow; Editor, LegBranch.org Lauren joined R Street in 2017 from academia where, in addition to teaching various research, writing and literature courses, she managed an academic journal on early modern literature, history and culture. Before her career in higher education, she was a trademark paralegal at an intellectual property law firm in the D.C. area. Lauren has bachelor’s degrees in English and political science/legal studies from George Mason University and a master’s in English from Georgetown. Her doctoral work at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst focused on early forms of ‘populism’ and rebellion among the commons in early modern English literature. A proud native of the DMV, Lauren now lives in western Massachusetts with her family and two very lovable kitties: R Street’s Director of Feline Policy, “the Outlaw” Josey Wales and her big brother, Miles.
