Sara Smith

Sara Smith plays a key role in supporting R Street’s recruiting efforts and broader operations functions. She works closely with hiring managers to understand departmental needs and ensures we attract top talent by managing postings, screening candidates, fostering a seamless hiring process, and facilitating new employee onboarding. Her dedication to efficiency and collaboration helps create a smooth experience for both new hires and internal teams.

Beyond recruiting, Sara contributes to essential operations tasks and initiatives, including hosting both ThinkLab, our internal solutions driven staff discussions, and virtual happy hours with staff to recognize and celebrate our success.  

Prior to R Street, Sara worked as principal for broker dealer firms, supervising regulatory compliance over the sales of mutual funds and variable annuities and leading the registered representative/broker recruiting/training and onboarding process.

Sara lives in rural Iowa with her husband and their barn-turned-house cats. She enjoys spending time at their lake cabin, swimming, biking, watercolor painting, reading, growing and canning vegetables, and creating magic for her beautiful grandsons.
