FDA’s OK of NJoy menthol e-cigarettes may be game-changer

Jeffrey Smith, resident senior fellow of the conservative think tank R Street Institute’s integrated harm reduction program, said that the FDA approval “represents what we hope will be the first of many products that menthol smokers might be able to choose from on their smoking cessation journey.”

“The FDA needs to step up its efforts in approving products and flavors that would be acceptable to adults, but not be marketed to adolescents. Good comparison is to flavored nicotine-replacement therapy products on the market.

“This is especially important in light of ongoing regulatory efforts to ban menthol combustible products,” Smith said.
