House appropriations tee up gene editing fight

Two CAPA members—Jeff Francer of the Association for Accessible Medicine and R Street Institute’s Charles Duan—will be on the panel with Ruane. Francer plans to tell the committee that allowing industry to patent “basic mental processes, the facts of life, and laws of nature” will let drugmakers raise prices even more, according to prepared remarks shared with Prescription PULSE. Duan’s comments add that the measure would create new barriers to innovation.
